Me

Hello! I’m a full-time mum and homemaker with a wide range of interests – sustainability, the environment, writing, history, the outdoors and literature, to name but a few! However, this blog is primarily concerned with my domestic interests – gardening, parenting, cooking, crafts and preserving – although some of the other stuff might creep in from time to time!
I grew up in rural Herefordshire but now live in a small market town in Wales with my husband, daughter and a mad cat. I dream of getting back to the countryside and would ultimately like to have a smallholding. At the moment though, we’re making do with the small garden of our terraced house and using it as an opportunity to acquire the type of skills that will serve us well on a smallholding, particularly growing our own fruit and veg.
I currently spend most of my crafting time crocheting or preserving. I’m also trying to teach myself to knit, spin wool and use a sewing machine and regularly find myself wishing that there were more hours in the day!
My makers website can be found at: www.feathertree.co.uk

Hi, I am compiling patterns for the knitting pattern-a-day and crochet pattern-a-day 2010 calendars. I was wondering if you would consider giving us 1x reprint rights for one (or more) of your patterns. You retain all ownership, we do not limit your usage and we will list your name and URL on your pattern sheet. For more information, please check out our website at http://www.knittingpatternaday.com We have been getting positive feedback from other designers that they have seen increased business due to their inclusion in last years calendar. Our knitting calendar is almost full for 2010, but we could use your submission for 2011 and we are still looking for crochet patterns.
The submission information is on this page: http://knittingpatternaday.com/submissions.htm
Follow the directions and let me know if you have any problems or questions. If one of your patterns is included in the calendar, you will be entered into the contest. The top 3 designers will receive $500, $250 and $100. All designers that are included in the calendar will receive a free copy of the calendar. You will receive 1 calendar per pattern included in the calendar up to a total of 3 calendars. Also, on each pattern sheet, the designer’s name and website/blog will be printed.
You retain all ownership/copyright to the patterns and can use them anyway you like. You are simply granting us permission to use the pattern in the calendar.
The general deadline is October 15th, 2008.
Thanks!
Susan

I am interested in licensing the image of the Brecon Cathedral Memorial you used in a previous post – Is it yours or does it belong to the Archives? Thanks in advance for your prompt response

Thanks for commenting on my blog, you’re the first! Its funny that we might have passed each other at Wonderwool and the Smallholders show. Shame that you won’t be able to make it to Woolfest, maybe when your daughter is a bit older she’ll want to come to Woolfest as a birthday treat?!
It’s lovely to ‘meet’ you too! It does seem like we have a lot of shared interests, I’m trying to get more into preserving (have done bramble jelly and onion marmalade so far) so I might have to try some of your recipes!
